When they ask for your favorite quote... (USC app)

I think it's cheesy to put something like, "There's always next time," so I want to quote a book. It's a line that I like a lot, but I'm not sure if that's stretching parameters of the question by quoting something I obviously wouldn't use in every day life... (given they ask for favorite food, favorite band, I can only infer they aren't looking for poetry). Plus, the quote is kind of long... (100 words). And it's is a bit depressing... (it's about loveless life)

Do you think I should just pick something short and sweet, even though it probably wouldn't reflect who I am?

It's about reflecting who you are. Put down /your/ favorite quote...not the one you think will be an adcom's favorite quote.
