Excellent Essays

My college essays are excellent but I received a low essay score on the SAT writing section:9 . Probably I'm just paranoid, but will adcoms be suspicious? Do they compare the sat essay and the college essays?

no, ones a timed essay where you don't kno the question ahead of the time. The other you have a longer amount of time and help.

the majority of colleges don't take the SAT writing section in consideration yet, even the ones that do, b151 is right, there's a difference between and SAT writing and an essay you have time to write

Same here - that article on how some colleges actually read your SAT essay kind of scared me. My teachers told me that I have excellent admissions essays, and I do well in English classes, but my SAT essay was quite bad. I had a perfect MC score but my 9 essay brought it down. I'm hoping that adcoms will be too pressed for time to actually read an extra essay lol

The essays are untimed, while the tests are. There are differences between the two, which does not necessarily make the colleges second-guess a personal essay because of an average score.

The writing portion is fomulatic, thus, if you are an advanced writer you may not get much better than an average score. They are looking for structural elements, rather than writing savy for the standardized tests.

"They are looking for structural elements, rather than writing savy for the standardized tests."

While this is true, one must look at the intent of the essay portion of the SAT-it is to see if you can do what's asked of the question in a structural format.

If you know the assignment, why try and do something eclectic?
