| I think when editing becomes rewriting, a line has been crossed. Getting someone else to rewrite your essay--rather than suggest changes and leave it to you to make them--is cheating, in my book. And my book says some very strong things in the footnotes about cheating.
And paying somebody to help you cheat... well, that's pretty sick. That's what this "Essay Edge" service looks like to me. I don't understand why someone would turn to a company like that when they could ask a friend, a parent, a teacher--someone who knows them well and can help preserve their (and their essay's) integrity and voice. Maybe people believe that something is better just because it costs money. Of course, maybe they're just lazy and don't give a damn about integrity.
Either way, it makes me sad. |
