Common App: Essay #2

2. Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.

I was thinking of writing about the American health care system and how it often leaves families with limited possibilities. Specifically, I wanted to talk about how a family member was turned away from medical treatment due to a lack of medical insurance.

I was particularly drawn to this because I felt that it was a topic I could really write about with interest. What are your thoughts? Does this sound too generic?

If you some how relate the incident to how it changed/affected you significantly, then you'll be fine. Just make sure that it is not a research paper and is personal.
