Could someone read mine/ suggest improvements?

Common App Essay.

I've already had my English teacher look over it and fix the grammatical errors.

Unfortunately, it is >1950 words, which is apparently way too much. How to say what I want to say in just 600 words or less is beyond me.

Any help in this department would be appreciated.

I also have a supplement essay, which was supposed to be one page. I wrote 750 words, and scrunched them into one page. Again, brevity is needed.

Thanks.

EDIT:
got the Common App essay down to 1060 words. Cutting off those 900 words was rather difficult.
