For UC's first prompt, (Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.), I am planning to write about women and body image. It is an issue that has affected me personally (although I don't plan on going into too much detail with that), and I feel like I can write a good essay on how the society I live in measures self-worth by pant size and body shape. Also, I would address the belief that we cannot solve greater problems like war, hate, and violence unless we heal these issues within ourselves. There are further ways I will connect this to myself and answer the second half of the prompt but....I was wondering if this would be okay. What do you think? If I come out sounding like a feminist, would that be a negative? (I see myself as one, so it would at least be personal but I don't know who my audience is so..).

First of all... you're a woman, right? (It'd be weird if you werent...)

I think (just my very impartial opinion, since I dont know who you are) it is a mediocre prompt, since it's kind of a cliche. Many people know how people suffer from super thin models in magazines, and women thinking they have to compete against them.
Maybe you should write something that is a truly UNIQUE experience that genuinely helps identify and talk more about you.

SS make it more personal and less general. A good way to judge this is if your essay could easily apply to someone else. If it can it is too general. They want to know about you as a person. Be sure to try to explain how you have learned/grown as a result of this problem, otherwise it will be a concern instead of a positive.
