| HYP Supplemental essay on being gay Would anyone be willing to look at my supplemental essay to HYP about the process of coming out as a lesbian? It's due Saturday, so I would need a fairly quick turnaround, and even if it is just a broad statement (i.e. good, awesome, it sucks), input would be much appreciated. Thank you! |

| I don't think universities will be amused by a topic. Try to tell about your abilities, your capabilities, what you can contribute to the university, your interests, your goals and ambitions, important stuff that affected and influenced your life, your top extracurricular activities.
Universities are not interested in a person's sexual life. |

| ... unless your sexual life has motivated? "your capabilities, what you can contribute to the university, your interests, your goals and ambitions,..." etc.
Although I doubt it would provide a strong point. |

| I agree with apples. Now is not the time to be writing about your sexual orientation. It's not really a way for you to contribute to whatever university (besides to provide diversity just by your being lesbian, i guess...) |

| i think writing about your sexual orientation is fine. our sexual orientations are very much of who we are; and it very much contributes to how we perceive, and do things.
i was very open about my sexual orientation in my essays, although i didn't find a need to scream out loud about the purple feather boa beside me. be as colourful as you desire.
i will read your essay. |

Universities are not interested in a person's sexual life. | My sexuality is very much the "important stuff" that has affected my whole identity. I don't write about my sex life, I write about my lifestyle, my outlook on the world as shaped by the discrimination I have encountered, and my culture.
Thank you, cuRRent! PMed. |

| If the essay is good there's nothing wrong with the topic. |
