Common app essay cut down?

Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon due date January 1st look over my essay before then? It's 800 words and could probably stand to be a little shorter

There's no maximum word limit on the personal statement on the common app. If cutting the essay down from 800 words would take away from the quality, don't do it.

On common app personal statements, Quality is more important than Length (as long as you go over the minimum).
