"How did you spend your summer?" & Common App Malarkey

So as I'm passing the kidney stones that are these essays I've found several of the "how did you spend your summer?!?" ones. What details do they want from me? I spent half of my time working in a fast food restaurant and labs, and the other half having fun and reading. So what do I write about?

Also, does anyone know if you only submit the common app. once? For example, if I have to meet the January 1st deadlines, but I'm applying to other schools later, can I come back to edit my responses, if I feel so inclined?

Lastly: I missed the subject test deadlines for Olin and Cooper Union - please kill me with your mind bullets. (Oh Lord, why did nobody tell me about them?)

- Thanks

When you submit the Common App, it locks itself and you can no longer edit it. However, you can create an alternate account.

You don't need to create an alternate account (it won't let you anyway). Just create another version in the same account.

Hmmm, can anyone else verify this?

Yes, you can create another version. See how in the common app instructions.
