| The RISKIEST of risky essays for Chicago So for the last open-ended essay I'm thinking about submitting a satire I wrote
A REAL satire, in the same style and tone as Jonathan Swift's original
I mean I feel that this is the best creative piece I've ever written... it's witty, thoughtful, very focused, and ridicules racism to effect social change on a very prominent issue in society today (illegal immigration) BUT...
For those of you who have read the Modest Proposal, think of how inflammatory and offensive it was
Well mine equals it in offensiveness, and its ridicule of racism is VERY subtle (enough that a fast read of it will sound like I'm a hardcore racist)
No doubt, though, I'm a sure it's an excellent example of pure satire (where humor is not the primary intent) and have been told so by my English teacher
What do you guys think? I heard chicago is very openminded with its essays, but should I take this chance? |
