| The most personal and powerful essay I have ever written
I decided to think outside the box and not write a sob story, as many kids do. I wrote an uplifting, feel good essay on an experience I had growing up during a trip I took to Florida, and the people who helped shape me while I was there. It's real, raw, and unlike any essay you will ever read. My Guidance Counselor (notorious for her harsh opinions on college essays) read my essay with a straight face, then smiled after she was done and applauded, "I love it".
I showed it to my uncle, a Harvard Graduate, who is probably the greatest write since Hemmingway but does not want to publish his stories, read my essay with a traight face as well, looked at me utterly moved by what he read and declared, "This is the one".
