if i'm gonna reapply to the schools i got denied from, should i use the same essays as a transfer student, if i'm positive that something else in my application killed me?
You shouldn't submit the same essay unless the question is almost exactly the same, and even then, you should tweak it to make it specific for whatever school you're applying to.
your transfer essays should probably address why, specifically, you want to transfer and incorporate some sort of reflection on your changed goals. So I would definitely say no, don't re-use a previous essay.
