That was pretty funny. I liked the advice about asking friends what makes you special, that was unique advice to what I have seen on many websites/books.

It was short, but accurate. The key to a perfect essay is writing about yourself - what makes you special/different from other people.

On that note, this "confession" would be a great personal essay, if the author had made it shorter and had talked more about how her letters helped her to become a journalist: Teen Crush: Lessons for Jonas Brothers Fans | Newsweek Culture | Newsweek.com

I think it's good because you get a real sense of a part of who she is, and she doesn't try to sound perfect--she sounds like herself. And notice the introspection she had--it is indeed personal.
