Mentioning Sexuality

I'm not sure if many people here are not heterosexual, but for those of us that aren't, I'm quite sure coming to terms with our sexuality has been quite a challenge.
Would it be acceptable for one to write an essay regarding this challenge? Or is writing about sexuality a bit too personal?

I think yes, it's far too personal.

Why to write about it, anyway? Most of homosexuals I know say it's natural and normal. So probably there is nothing unique in somebody's sexuality.

Homo/hetero writing about sexuality in college essay may seem perverse.

you should write about it if it was difficult for you, or perhaps others, to come to terms with it. I've actually heard that colleges are more likely to accept students if they are homosexual because they think of them as a URM and wish to add diversity to their student body. However, beware because i'm sure many many other homosexuals will write about their sexuality in their essays as well. It might even be a good idea to write about something else and include your sexuality that way it doesn't become the main idea of the paper but the reader still understands what you overcame.
