| Did I make a mistake??A terrible one!!!
Hi,
I am an international applicant and I applied for the class of 2013. I had heard that honesty is very important in application essays, so I became extremely honest while writing my application essays, which, now I think, was a terrible mistake!
What I wrote about:
I had a terrible accident about 8 years ago(right now I am 19) and due to that accident, I had to get one of my kidneys removed. And today I live with a single kidney. So, I wrote about how the accident has shaped me into who I am today and how the chain of circumstances after that accident have inspired me to become an engineer. I thought it would be an interesting topic and would catch the Adcoms' attention, but as it turns out, I was rejected straightaway from all the schools to which I submitted that essay. Interestingly, I was accepted to almost all the other schools to which I did not send that essay. So, do you think that was a mistake?(A huge one probably because I was rejected from my dream school!)
Since English is not my first language, I don't claim that they were extremely well written but they did portray myself well!
I don't think that other factors broke the deal because I applied to my reach schools and was accepted to other "equally competitive schools"(where I didn't send that essay!)....So, what do you guys say??
