It's not about intelligence. Hot girls tend to have better social lives so they have less time for schoolwork. Also, they are generally happy with their current state and have less of a desire to work hard to improve upon it.

I have to wonder... who rated the women's colleges? Did the girls just rate themselves?
Because the rest of the scores are given by the guys at a school, right?

I think the evolution theory is viable, but what about our society and what is viewed as hot? Not everyone has one set opinion of "hot", so a girl that looks hot to me may not to someone else, etc. Society seems to praise beautiful people, but successful people are also those who can hold their own in the world, and they have to be smart on some level. Let's take University of Illinois for example. I have plenty of friends who go there, and there are a lot of hot girls there, but overall it's a pretty good university and all my friends are very studious. I disagree that all smart girls aren't hot, because being in honors classes in high school and in college proves to me that that isn't true. I mean a lot of smart girls aren't hot and some are, not there is no all in that statement. You can't speak in absolutes because there will always be exceptions.

okay... why people say smart girls aren't hot... or dumb girls are hot... there's totally a reason behind that. they're not totally wrong.
what happens is: time is a limiting factor. smart girls usually study. if they study, they have less time for manicures and all that crap. on the other hand, some dumb party girl can spend all day reading fashion magazines and makeup reviews. some smart girls have nice sense of style, but you will notice that generally the super super super welldressed girls are not the smartest. please. if you got 6AP classes or 5 classes and 2 labs in college, whether your outfit matches or not is not the foremost important thing on your mind. that being said...
smart girls can be PRETTY, naturally. that's God's gift. they can be gorgeous. some people don't need high maintance to look sexy. on the other hand, a dumb girl can work up to her full potential in hotness. I'm sure some studious girls aren't all that attractive, but if they spent less time on physics and more time on hair does, tans, working out... please... anyone can be "hot". maybe not beautiful, but anyone can be hot. take a not so attractive fat girl, make her run 10 miles per day and 300 crunches until she has tight stomache and thin legs, cut highlight fix her hair, get her a tan, put some makeup on her.... there. you have yourself a hot girl.

Anyone who says a girl with make-up on her and well trimmed abs and thin legs is automatically hot is obviously not a guy. And if they are, they are probably going after slutty girls. Guys might be superficial, but a naturally pretty girl is much better looking than a mediocre girl shrouded in make-up and the latest fashions.
I think that beauty and intelligence are totally unrelated.

oh please. what about those teen movies like... she's all that. in the beginning she was geeky looking and tell me the truth, if you saw that girl you wouldn't instantly think she's SOO hot. then afterwards in that red dress i thought she was really pretty.
beauty and intelligence are unrelated
hotness and intelligence are semirelated
hotness does not equate beauty

Just as a quick note - being intelligent doesn't mean one studies a lot/excessively - studying a lot means being hardworking. one can be intelligent and not have to put in nearly as much effort as other people, freeing up time to care about other issues like fashion, etc. or to party...

if you're intelligent.. you'll know that you're not the smartest and you need to work hard. lets say you're taking 4 classes at harvard. i dont think u can do nothing and get straight As. you think you're partying cuz you go out on friday... but a real party girl in arizona state might go out every night. i dont think that harvard girl can afford to go out every night. she's not the fashion queen nor party queen, but she's just... acceptable... when it comes to those two areas.

how much you study is relative. i think i "didn't study" when i didn't pay attentition well in lecture, not caught up in readings... read the last night... etc... when the amount of time i spent studying that week was possible the amount of time an ASU girl spent studying all semester
*not that im picking on ASU.. im just using it as an example

Hey watch it astrife - Do not generalize state schools as not selective or easy, and do not assume that their student bodies are not future oriented. People here work really hard. Even at such a huge party school, we only go out Friday and Saturday, and put in a solid 4-6 hours every weeknight. I got into Northwestern and Wisconsin, and after extensive research and talking to people, I came to the conclusion that the education will be essentially the same at either school, and Wisconsin is a lot cheaper. And that's another thing, not every intelligent person can afford a "selective school." Just because there are 30,000 undergrads here doesn't mean they aren't just as intelligent as the 8,000 at Northwestern, and if it weren't for state schools educating such a large population of students, the so called 'Selective Schools" would have to be a little less selective.
Don't ever rip on state schools in general unless you have a specific school and argument against one. There is no reason to spend an extra $30,000 on the same education, and a smart person should be able to realize that.
And to keep this post on topic, there are a lot of really hot girls here.

not everyone at a giant state school is lazy and unmotivated. they just encompass a wider variety of students.
(...you know, just a reminder that not all of us are at elite east coast schools)
sure there's skanky barbie girls and shady d-bag guys who are always looking for a party, but ASU is a huge school. there's a LOT of niches available.
a big factor for me thinking that people are attractive here is that there isn't a lot of pretentiousness. the guys here are usually incredibly chill. the girls do tend to try harder, but a lot of guys will laugh at the ones who are over the top. it's a laid-back sort of confidence and it works.
PS: I don't know anyone who actually parties every night. I mean... even the dumb kids have finals too.

The list just shows that engineering/science schools have high levels of ugly girls. Plenty of very good schools are ranked high on that list. Vandy,Harvard, Duke, Stanford, Yale, etc.
