...you disagree with these records, you think they're stupid and immature, you're more than welcome to that opinion, and I believe you're probably right in the end.

But that said, you don't need to come to this thread and fill it up with these lectures, no one's gonna quit because a faceless internet persona told them it was bad, so chill out and let people post their records.

You are very welcome to your records - as you see fit - I have no problem with that - just stating an opinion to which I am entitled.

And I am in no way telling anyone here to quit - that is a personal choice for anyone to make.

So - go for it......................

ya drinking should be something fun you do not a competition. I knew some people that got killed by drunk drivers and loads of people that have joined the DUI club (as they call it). I think irresponsible drinking is just plain stupid but telling a college student to just flat out not drink is not going to change anyones mind. To much red bull can kill you, sky diving can kill you, driving to work can kill you. If your responsible and have friends that care about you, drink until you can drink no more. Just don't drive anywhere or do something stupid thats gonna get you or someone else hurt. Great now i want a drink.

STMICHAEL - just a bit curious here - on another posting you are a senior in high school - with stats posted and all - going back to New Orleans to finish your senior year and graduate - so which is it?? high school or college??

You are a Complete and Completely Inane Liar

So, Mr. Ivy Leaguer (with almost a perfect GPA, no less), how about those posts just two weeks ago asking for responses to your question "Chances at UVA, UNC, Wake Forest, Duke"? I don't suppose you're trying to transfer from your "ivy league school" either, seeing as you posted the question as a current high school senior.

You lie, and you're not good at it, and you're not amusing, and you're very easy to see through.

Despite your glorification of alcohol, you're quite the good example of why NOT to burn too many of those precious brain cells by downing as much of it as you wish to brag about later.... on an internet messageboard, for *beep* sake.

Although it is hard to believe you, what you "did" was EXTREMELY dangerous and stupid. What you did is exactly why there are sad parents across the nation mourning for the loss of their son or daughter because they had too much fun one night. You are not a child anymore and you should realize that alcohol is not a toy. As an adult you are to make responsible decisions and drinking 12 shots in 8 minutes is in no way a responsible decision (and then finishing 1.5 liters after that). 12 shots in an hour is a risky thing and what you "did" could have landed you brain dead or dead dead. It is not in any way funny what you did and you should not glorify such an idiotic thing.

First off, there is comparitively little modern and credible evidence that alcohol kills brain cells. The only dangers from alcohol are heart/liver damage or death via asphyxiation or through anastesia to the point that one stops breathing.

Secondly, if someone downs a huge amount of alcohol and then pukes most of it up very quickly (as the unquestionably brilliant STMICHAEL did), then there is significantly less risk of alcohol related death - it takes time for alcohol to be absorbed.

Third, who the hell cares how much you can drink if you're just going to puke? A drinking record cannot be set on a night when one pukes/pees themselves or otherwise loses control of basic bodily functions.

Oh, and by the way hopkinslax - many experienced drinkers who have a reasonable tolerance and a strong stomach can down 12 shots in a short period of time. That isn't really even that dangerous of an amount, unless you are an unexperienced drinker or very small person.

That is true, you get insanely drunk quickly though. I killed a bottle of firewater in about 25 minutes once and was sauced instantly. I then told my then girlfriends kids that I would buy them things if they called me dad. I think that was the last time I had firewater.

This thread is stupid and immature. Is there anything wrong or immoral about drinking? No. Do I drink? Yes. Do I tend to drink to excess? No. I like to drink at parties to loosen up and enjoy myself. I tend to focus on the social aspect of the party - girls, talking, dancing, girls, etc - not drinking as much as I can. There's nothing trashier than drinking until you nearly die and then bragging about it. Seriously, stmichael, there's nothing cool about being a competitive drinker. Kick back the ethanol intake and try to enjoy the social side of things. If you can't do that, you might have a problem.

In high school, we called that ownage. In college... well, I guess it's still ownage, isn't it.

In college, stmichael's "alcoholic feats" are probably false and if true, just "feats" -- bad ones, at that. Also in college and in the rest of your life, that's also considered morbid alcoholism.

Actually, there is NO evidence alcohol kills brain cells. In fact, I can tell you right now that it doesn't, people! The whole killing brain cells thing I'm sure came about as a scare tactic with no basis in fact. Alcohol damages the dendrites of the neurons in the brain (which it can do relatively easily since it passes through the blood-brain barrier with little trouble at all). This damage is only TEMPORARY and is completely repaired when the alcohol leaves the system.
The damage to the dendrites makes neurological messages in the brain less effective, hence all the effects of alcohol as a nervous system depressant. But like I said, it is totally reversable - so stop with the whole "you're killing brain cells" bit.

That being said, you're an idiot if you drink 13 shots in 10 minutes (and then 1.5 litres of whatever and blah blah) - and very lucky you didn't end up seriously hurting yourself. I've seen many people stop breathing for periods of time when they're that drunk, or fall off of third floor balconies and break their backs in multiple places, among other things. Just makes my job that much more fun, though, trust me. I'll have little sympathy as I stick an artificial airway down their throat and other such fun stuff.
