Appropriate college bedding

I am guy. I was wondering what would be appropriate college bedding to purchase. I've read that white sheets aren't a good idea. Do college kids bring comforters? If so, are they those girly ones with the designs? Or is a comforter too much and should I just bring sheets and a blanket? I was thinking mattress pad, with black sheets, and a black comforter/duvet cover. Would that be alright or too much?

Black/dark brown show more...ahem, 'personal' stains. If you're going to be bringing back girls, it will show. I'd recommend a solid blue (not a navy/dark blue), red, grey, or tan. Still boy colors, but show less stains

^ Good call. If my school's main color is red, would it be cliche to get red bedding though?

Just pick some out in solid colors. Most of the guys I know had tan or navy blue sheets. You can bring a comforter, too, no one is going to make fun of you or anything. Again, just find one in a solid color. And no, it wouldn't be cliche to get red bedding. that's not the kind of thing that other guys will really notice or draw attention to.

Many dorms have beds that need extra long sheets.

Also, be sure to regularly wash your sheets in hot water and put them through a long time in the dryer. There are bed bugs in some dorms.

If you're buying cheap sheets be careful with bright colors. I bought cheapo red fred meyers sheets that ended up rubbing off on my mattress, which I was charged for.

All of my guy friends had sheets and comforters. (Don't most people have comforters on their beds? Almost every one of my friend's houses that I've been to does at least.) Their comforters were usually a variation on black, green, and navy. I think a simple plaid was popular.

I got sports sheets... Like for 5 year olds. But it shows my personality (and immaturity to some extent) and they make my room a little more interested. As a girl, it also makes for a good conversation as many of my friends are dumbfounded as to why I prefer to watch a baseball game over the latest chick flick or 16 and Pregnant episode.

If you really like something that you can find on bedding (even like spiderman or something), I would go for it! Why go to bed sleeping in red or blue when you could be sleeping with spiderman?
