Medical leave? I don't know what to do...

Hello,

I'm new here, just trying to figure out a couple things regarding medical leave from school. I've been attending a small private college for three years, in my fourth now, and have one more after this.
Recently I was diagnosed with an illness that should have begun clearing up by now, however, my condition has only deteriorated and new symptoms, such as sudden blackouts and increasing episodes of shortness of breath, have begun to worry both myself and my mom. I've had to be taken off campus twice now in an ambulance, with four other ER visits besides.
I've tried to attend classes, but I keep having to leave class partway through to be ill. I cannot do my work study assignments, and my course load is going to double this week. The school has been very understanding, and very accomodating thus far. However, I have a private room, and therefore, if something were to happen, I don't know that anyone would know about it. Last night kind of compounded the issue; I was the only person on my side of the hall, and I ended up very ill in the middle of the night. Fortunately I was on the phone with my mom when it happened, so she was able to get ahold of EMS and campus security.

My questions are: If I take a MLOA, what is the school required to do by federal law? Will I have to withdraw from the college and sacrifice the money we've already paid for this semester? What will I be expected to do? Will I have to move out of the dorms entirely, or will I be able to take what I need, and leave the rest here?

I am so close to my degree, and I don't want to sacrifice what I've already accomplished to take a MLOA, and I definitley DO NOT want to be a quitter. The last thing I want to do is have to drop out of school because of an illness...but I'm at the point right now where I can barely function, and the doctors here aren't helping.

Thank you for your time,

Mearh
