| Ive always been the shy, quiet type in high school - u know, the type thats afraid to ask questions in class and approach new ppl, etc... But thats something that I've been addressing, albeit slowly and somewhat painfully, over the past half year and something I want to eliminate from my lifestyle in the future. I plan on being active and involved in college and getting involved in conversations/discussions, even tho it will prob be a bit difficult for me at first. I actually signed up for a small seminar discussion based program first semester so that I can get my feet wet from the start - no more reticence for me! |

| buggzz - thanks for the enthusiasm! I'm trying really hard to open up. Its funny cuz my mom's very social and outgoing person but my dad is like the complete antithesis. My sister is exactly like my mom, and Im exactly like my dad, maybe its sex-linked? lol But yeah, I'm slowly improving, just trying to make it happen faster now. |

| academics is big but also Being away from HOME (thats pretty general but its true). Like if you're going from the west coast to the east like I did, you'll end up missing home alot, but in the end its ok. i just wasn't expecting to miss home as much as i did |

| i love how this is a sticky thread and it got 3 pages of responses in over half a year. sticky posts are a joke, if people really wanted the post up top they would reply to it, if they didnt, they wouldnt reply and it would go down where it belongs. |

| definitely my friends. I don't know how I could've gotten through high school without them. The idea of going to college without them is scary, knowing how often I have to be reminded to do things.. |

| I said home/family...this will be my first time being away for more than a week...plus I'm going 18 hrs (drive) away from home..to somewhere I've never been in my life.
The social aspect is second I think. I'll be going in university not knowing anyone, and I'm a little nervous about making friends. |

| I'm definitely scared like hell of the workload. I'm going to CMC and coming from a less than average highschool. I'm used to literally half an hour of homework a day. So I'm not sure how I'm gonna cope with CMC's workload.. |

| i'm definitely going to need to learn to adjust to a more intense workload and managing my time better/not being so lazy...but when it gets down to it i think i'll be okay, academically. whenever i start something new i'm always pretty uptight about stuff (haha, i'll admit it...) and i'll just have to push myself more. living away from home and with a roommate will probably also be tough, but for me making friends is the part i'm most worried about. i don't make friends that easily and i think other things will be easier if you have friends (i.e. commiseration at finals time, help with laundry) and all the other stresses are doubly hard if you are feeling lonely and trying to manage everything by yourself. |

I'm pretty worried about the academics. My high school is, umm...not challenging, and I suspect my college will be. I've done roughly 10 minutes of homework my whole senior year-and I honestly wasn't trying to slack off.

| Lack of money is horrible. Balancing school work and regular work is tough and stressful, which only makes the other problems worse.
And like usna said...the drama is incredible. It is about 10x worse than high school.
I go to school 40 miles from my home city so I come back every weekend. And on days like today when I have a dentist appointment at 8:30 tomorrow morning. ...and a history of theatre midterm tomorrow morning at 12:30. So let's hope I make it in time! |
