Do universities monitor web access, like porn?

No, right? just making sure. and do universities ban access to porn from your personal computer but using the university server? just making sure because i don't want to mess up my chances to med school because of this. thanks guys

I think that they monitor that kind of stuff.
why not just not watch porn at all, it'll save you alot of trouble. besides, even if you are caught watching it, I'm sure they'll give you a warning the first few times..they won't expell you.

Last time I checked, watching pornography is legal to anyone older than the age of 18. And at college, they don't care enough to bust you for it if you're like, 17. Unless you go to a Christian college.

what about the image of the college. if they let people do whatever the hell they wanted, wouldn'tthat reflect badly on the college?

actually, i think it would make more sense for them to monitor that sort of stuff. so all men watch it, that doesn't make it right!

why would they monitor it, it's not illegal. Also, what's 'wrong' about watching porn?

nothing is "wrong"...it just gets people really horny and doesn't really do people any good. it's just a waste of time.

Lots of things college kids do don't do any good and are a waste of time...I would think the colleges would try to focus on the illegal ones first. They probably do monitor your overall download rates, though.

I think they place larger concern on students googleling "how to build home-made bombs/anarcy cookbook" - "blueprints of 'X' University" - "how to build a meth lab" - ect, ect...

porn is good.
everyone looks at porn

I wouldn't worry about looking at porn, but a lot of colleges are becoming anti-free/illegal downloading (how many people get porn). I'm not sure how this works, or how easy it is to get caught, I just know that there are universities with policies like this in place.

You are obviously not a male. Masturbation is a required activity when you are not getting any action, and it's ten times better when you have some porn to supplement your imagination. Hey, I'm just being honest.

Most schools will monitor bandwidth, but not the content per se.

It's legal in most states if you're over 18. If you're downloading it illegally you might get caught, or if you're using up way too much bandwidth... but they aren't going to censor anything you're doing legally or keep track of who accesses what. Welcome to college.
