What to Pack

So I've been poking around online to find packing lists, and these were among the better lists I found:

http://www.collegesofdistinction.com...p?articleid=18

http://www.collegeanswer.com/global/...or_college.pdf

I was wondering if anyone had other suggestions? Maybe things that one wouldn't usually think of. Of course, since I'm heading across the country I'll try to pack minimally. I'll pack lightly and maybe mail two or three boxes to myself. What are things that are better to buy when you get there, and what's best to bring your own of? What things are you glad you brought or wish you had sooner? What ended up being more expensive in your college town than you expected? Any other packing lists you found online that were helpful?

I'm hoping this can be a general help thread for all of us nervous high school seniors so we can start making plans for the fall!

There is a thread at the top of the page that answers your question to its fullest extent:

Haha nice. Guess my eyes always zip past the stickies. I don't like trying to navigate through threads that are super-long, but at least the list at the top of the thread is thorough!

You haven't even graduated from high school yet. You won't be packing for about 5 1/2 months. Worry about this later, and go back to enjoying what's left of senior year.

Haha I know, I'm just so excited about getting in & actually being sure of my destination. If I start early, I won't be running around at the last minute desperately hoping I don't forget anything important! Anyway, I'm in transition between bedrooms and it's a good time to be getting rid of stuff (there was a flood in our basement, including my bedroom, so I've been displaced for a while).
