| Girls say "she's pretty" but guys don't say "he's cute"?
I know that males are supposed to be competitive, but aren't girls the same way? In fact, in some instances, girls' jealousies of each other are more extreme than the guys' (remember that astronaut?), yet on the whole, they don't hesitate to acknowledge when some girl is pretty. The only few times I heard a guy *voluntarily* say "he's cute" or "good-looking" is when he's trying to be funny. So, how do you explain this?
I know I've made similar inquiries in the past, but I'm just so perplexed by certain social norms.

Because there is a huge stigma behind gay males in today's society?

Girls are more competitive than boys. It's just not manly to comment on another guy's physical features.
Wait...what astronaut? Please tell.

i say guys are attractive all the time. i've never used the word "cute" or "handsome" or anything other than attractive though, if that takes anything away from it...

Yeah, I'm 100% straight, but I am objective enough to recognize if a guy is good looking or not. I'll definitely be wary of saying it out loud randomly in public, since as someone said before, there's a big negative stigma about saying that kinda thing.

a female astronaut fell in love with a man astronaut, who was married to another woman astronaut. The first woman drove 600 miles and kidnapped the guys wife and did this all in a diaper or something.

Guys think people will think they are gay if they ever acknowledge that other guys are good-looking. Apparently, guys are supposed to think that every other guy is ugly except themselves. It's stupid.

Because we don't find looks to be a veritable point of contention? In other words, is Brad Pitt going to affect me insofar as to me verbally expressing how good he looks? No, he's not. I could care less about how he looks. You'll find vocal manifestations of competition among males regarding other things.

Um because saying another guy is attractive, cute, handsome or anything else is gay and makes you a fruit.
