Networking

Can someone explain this to me? I understand that networking is meeting new people and keeping in touch with them so you can get better opportunities, but how is one person better at it than another person?

my friend, who is a business major, says he takes classes at the U to learn how to "network"

anyone want to give more insight into this?

haha the company I am interning at constanly tells us to network. A good idea is to ask for business cards whenever you meet someone whose contact info you want to hold onto.

Networking involves knowing how to read people and learning how you can get them to provide you with information or connections that will help you in some way. It's a skill and you just have to know how to play that card called politics.

Networking is doing something helpful for other people so that they will return the favor to you at a later time.
