We just purchased the two phones you might be thinking about.
D1 (returning from a year abroad) will get the Nokia. My experience with Nokia's has always been very good, the phones have great voice quality and can take some abuse. The 6315i is juat that, a sleek basic phone, no mp3 capability, no bluetooth capability - which is fine cause that stuff eats battery life and I'm not paying for the extra services anyway.
D2 has had the big razor for over a year and wanted the free upgrade. She's getting the Samsung cause she's a text messaging freak. I think this is more phone than she needs, but the reviews were good for call quality and reliability and again we did not purchase the Vcast or other frills.
Some of your decision depends on how you want to use your phone. My daughters both have i pods, laptops and digital cameras. They just needed a phone.
