Oh I feel like I'm going to get squashed in college...the end of my senior year was hard enough! Argh.

Any advice about balancing sports teams and school work? Or balancing a relationship with school work?

catsushi...do you mean sports teams as in you're going to be on a team (NCAA, not intramurals) or sports teams like making it to all the games? if you're an athlete in any sport or any level, you'll have to manage your time properly.

The athletes at my school have mandatory study hall hours they have to attend every week if they are freshmen or have a low GPA (usually below 2.5ish). They get special tutoring and advising services, and most coaches here are pretty strict about it. I work with the football team (Div 1 school) and the freshmen and new transfers have to attend 12 hours of study hall a week, and others with low GPAs have to attend 8 per week, but that's a team rule and it varies by school.

Yeah I am definitely not going to be a Division 1 swimmer. I have several friends who are doing that, and to me it seems crazy to go to college to do sports and school on the side. I'm swimming Division III.

bzzzt: "Skip the pill. Get a Depo-Provera shot, or a Minera. Birth control you only have to deal with every 3 months to 2 years is GREAT. Still use condoms"

i may be wrong but i think depo-provera decreases bone density (i could be confusing it with some other birth control). if you dont have a problem remembering to take the pill everyday it may be a better choice

Super blunt post, sorry:

If we're still talking birth control.... I'm on the pill and I love it. I'm not sexually active right now, which means I can mess with my dosage to make my periods more convenient. Vacation in two weeks? I'll just skip a couple of pills to make sure my period comes early, and then I won't have to worry while I travel. It's great.

Of course, you need to make sure that you've been taking the normal dose steadily for five or six months before you have sex, for guaranteed protection. Which kind of bites. :P But taking a pill every morning is not a pain in the ass at all (like putting on deoderant or brushing your teeth. You just can't forget, after a while), and it's less risky than those new anti-pregnancy shots.

I'm on orthotricyclin (sp?) and I recommend it.
