caki, i spent my high school years high. I don't like pot because it did horrible things to me, I am thankful to have quit because it really changed me life. My friends who continued to smoke did not go anywhere and are only making their life worse. A few of my friends who continued to do pot are now doing cocaine, it saddens me .. but hey what can you do, its their choice.

I don't have a problem with people smoking pot around me, hell if I did I probably wouldn't have friends lol, I'm around it all the time. But it does have a negative effect on you in my opinion.

Yeah man, when you get a girl high you usually aren't going to get laid.. and if they are also drinking they will probably be puking. Just save the liquor for the women

Pet peeves: arrogrant people and dumb people*

*dumb behaviors: the 'pretty' tall blonde on the Real World who said, and I quote, "I'm not a whore but I like sex." I admitt, I'm all for female empowerment and whatever but she's not like Sam Jones in Sex in the City...she's more like ...a slut...IMO...and she said this, "Let's not get getto." to one of her roomates. What? How condesending and judemental is that?

If it's so "extremely mentally addictive" why am I not addicted to it after doing it 3 times? I have many friends who recreationally smoke pot and none of them are remotely addicted to it, nor are they lazy or stupid. In fact, some of them have better grades than I do! It does make you tired/sleepy for the time that you are high, but once it wears off, you are back to normal self. I am in college, btw, and my friends who smoke are the type who probably smoked at least occasionally in high school. I never asked but I'm sure they probably did. Obviously, they got into college, and almost all of them are succeeding in college (one girl isn't, but that is just because she's kind of lazy in general. she also quit smoking pot about a year ago, so it's not the pot making her lazy, that's just how she is.)
I don't enjoy pot that much, but I don't see anything wrong with people who like it doing it. The only thing I liked about it was that everything was a lot funnier than it would be normally. Also, it does not make you fat. It does make you hungry, but my friend Marie is all of about 100 pounds and she smokes fairly often. If you smoke it every day and eat a ton every time you get the munchies, then yeah, you are going to get fat from it. My friend Danielle has gained like 20 pounds since she quit smoking pot. Most of the time, being fat has more to do with genetics and overall eating habits. Someone having a binge while high every once and a while is no different than me being sober and eating a pint of ice cream and a bag of potato chips every once and a while, just because I can.

pet peeves: rude people, smokers, others using my bathroom, and overly competitive people (and I mean, competitive for EVERYTHING)

AU, Pot can lead to horrible things, but you should know that a mental addiction isn't picked up after three times of use. Recreational smoking isn't something you can really come back with a debate, there are recreational cigarette smokers who aren't addicted, there are recreational drinkers who aren't alcoholics. That isn't how things work.

Even if there are people addicted to pot, it's probably a small minority. Just like there's a ton of people who drink but in comparison not many alcoholics. Plus, alcoholism is often genetic-- people with alcoholic parents are more likely to be alcoholic themselves because of inherited physiological attributes (same reactions to alcohol in the same part of the brain, etc). Cigarettes are different because nicotine is physically addictive. And yes there are people who aren't addicted to cigarettes because they smoke them so infrequently, but the overwhelming majority of people who smoke ARE addicted to them. This is why it's so hard for cigarette smokers to quit smoking. They have a physical need for the nicotine.

I think if you were around people who smoked pot on a regular basis you'd understand a little bit more. Kind of a useless debate here.

i agree with burgler about the pot thing.

my pet peeve is when people talk to me while wearing sunglasses. it's so impersonal and cold! Also when a group people walk really slow right in the middle of the sidewalk.

-The people who have a question about EVERYTHING (especially when they compain how annoying it is when someone asks a question).
-The people look down on someone because of their career.
-When you are talking to someone and every single conversation ends up being about money in some way.
-Girls who can't keep their underwear from showing.
-Girls who wear too much make up (actually guys are included too).

Mine:

- People that talk down to you, as if they're better, just because they're doing a more prestigious course, work in a higher-paid area or are at a "better" university or school.
- People who don't listen and then ask stupid questions that have already been answered.
- People who drop random facts into conversations just to show off or big themselves up.
