Benefits of living off campus?

Well, I am an incoming freshman, and I was told there isn't enough dorms, so I will have to live off campus. I am just wondering what are some benefits of living off campus, if any? At first I was very angry because I really planned on living on campus, but I am starting to come around now. Thanks

Did they put you one a waiting list for the dorms? Usually a few people will drop closer to time and then there are openings.

The good thing is that you can have any size bed you want. You can paint the walls (I think you can?), cook in a kitchen, walk around the place naked if you want to, you don't have to worry about those roommates from hell, you can park right by your front door, you probably won't have those loud drunken hallmates at 3 am, you have a living room, you can have parties there, you can have whatever visitor come however many times you want, you don't have to share a bathroom......the list could go on and on.

Yeah, I'm starting to be happy that I am off campus, actually. As far as the waiting list, I am not sure..I can call and ask, but is it worth it?

I'd try to live in the dorms if I could. It's part of the whole "freshman experience" and it helps you meet new people. It also tends to cost less since you won't have to furnish it and everything.

also, unless you're getting a 1 person apartment, pretty much every issue OKgirl said you won't have to deal with you will.

And the way dorm costs are now, it won't even be that much more expensive, especially if you share it with 2 people.

Oh i just automatically assumed that he'd be living alone. I guess I should have thought that he might have other roommates.

Well, it all depends on who I live with. I am going to try to get into a dorm still, but if not then I'll deal with it.

If you're living with other people and have your own room, that's the biggest benefit of all. I'm not sure how your university functions, but while I was at BC, there was no such thing as a single, lol. It was kind of frustrating because no matter where you turned there was always someone there which didn't help because there are times when you just want to be ALONE for a short period. You want to get away from people? Go in your room and chill.

Just my 2 cents.

I would try living in the dorms for at least the first year if you can; it's all part of that whole freshman experience.
