I have a friend who recently recieved an athletic full scholorship to an unnamed Big 10 university. He recieved a minor in posession of alcohol citation. He was under 18 at the time of the citation. Is it necessary to report this to the school if he turns 18 before the application is due. In other words, when he turns 18, the charge should dissapear from his record. He is not then, morally or legally held, to report such an incident to the college, is he?

this is obviously not a guarantee, but i would say no -- i do think however, that he should inform his coach, JUST IN CASE something came up...i'm sure the coach will not mind if it is in the past, off his record, and he makes sure it won't happen again

Definitely not, I got accepted to UMiami with 3 MIP's. They are really not that big of a deal with college admissions but you definitely want to stay away from them. Trust me its something that should be avoided because losing your lisence, paying thousands and probation is not fun. In my opinion drinking isn't worth it and is usually just something you regret in the end. I don't really party too much anymore, I focus on things that make me a better person, expand my mind and help me learn more about the world. Hope this answers your question.

The only time you have to report something to the university is if it is a felony other than that, they aren't going to give a crap. Truthfully, 1 MIP is nothing at all.
