I'm '07, but I'll answer anyways.

Freshman year was amazing. Meeting tons of new people, joining new clubs, pledging a fraternity, being an NCAA varisty athlete, going to parties, studying long hours for organic chemistry and biology, visiting my professor's house, random late night trips to Wal-Mart, having everyone live in my room because I had an Xbox with Halo 3, struggling to figure out what professors wanted out of lab reports, going to class the next day drunk/hung over and still acing quizzes, blogging for my school's website on school experiences, writing for the newspaper for the first time, struggling to find a church to attend, going through my phone book trying to find people to buy beer, attending off-campus parties, being one of the few freshmen with a car and letting others borrow it, trying tons of new things, finding skinny girls to borrow their meal plan money when I ran out, making road trip plans for spring break, going camping, there's just so much!

And I'm hardly even scratching the surface with that. Good luck!

It's what you make it to be.

Beginning was like summer camp, just tons of fun. Then the school work hit, and it was hard, but in retrospect high school was just as difficult, but just a different kind of difficult. I had to balance a varsity sport with academics, which made it tough, but I got things done anyway. My social life greatly improved in some ways, too. I felt a lot more free during my freshman year, but at the same time I realized that the only person I can (and should) depend on is myself. For me, I'm happier than I was in high school.

Your freshman year can suck, or it can be awesome. It depends on what you make of it. Just go into it with an open mind, and you might discover things about yourself that you never knew before.

Summer was one of the best times I've ever had. I took advantage of the freshmen-only activities that my school had and I made friends even before I started college. Fall and winter were definite adjustment periods for me because I was still trying to get a feel for our school's quarter system; eventually, I got used to the speed and pace. I had fun pledging for a fraternity and meeting a great group of guys. It's all how you want it to be. The more you get out there and participate and meet new people, the funner it's going to be. Just go out there, put yourself out there and have a blast. It's a great experiecne and a fun change.

Some of my freshmen year classes were definitely lame But some of them were pretty awesome. I realized that I was interested in things I never thought I'd be interested in, like radio. I work for my school's radio station now, which is definitely awesome! The freedom rocked- from the freedom to wear what I wanted(stupid high school uniforms) to getting to skip class if I wanted. Not that I recommend this right off, but sometimes professors have such lazy attendance policies and set up their classes to where they're basically reciting what's in the book, so I didn't miss much by missing once in awhile. You have to be careful though because this can have serious effects in some classes.

I loved that some professors developed a habit of letting class out early Usually if the professor can't be there classes is cancelled, you're not doing useless busywork. I liked that our textbooks were up-to-date. I liked that our classes were so much more in depth than in high school.

I don't like that I still have to be haunted by my horrible math skills, and I don't like having to run around campus when it's 17 degrees outside(and colder for some cities) or when it's pouring down raining. Buy an umbrella! I wish I had gotten one earlier!

I did like only having class 3 or 4 days a week. It was so cool at first to just have Tuesdays and Thursdays off- it was weird to be a part of the 'real world' when I was driving home during times I'd normally be in school during high school or sleeping in during the week. I worked during my freshman year, but it was also weird to be going to a job during those days.

FANTASTIC. Great friends. Great fraternity I pledged. Great friends. Great parties. Great time at athletic events. Great time playing sports. Great time partying almost every night of the week.

Academically, not so great. Learned a lesson.
