We have the pet peeve thread of things that irritate you, but what are some of your weird habits?

Mine: When I get insomnia, I like to watch cooking gadget infomercials. I don't actually want anything, I just like watching them cook. Plus it's funny when they swear up and down that the product cooks all the way through and then they cut into a bloody steak.


What are some of you weird quirks?

I won't allow people who come to apartment to eat with my ceramic plates or use silverware because I hate that high pitched scratching noise when people grind into their plate with their utensils and I don't trust them not to do that.

i hate eating cereal out of any bowl that isn't ceramic. and i refuse to use utensils that are too big. i hate it.

i talk to my dog like she's a real person--i'll tell her to get me snacks or open the door or something. the rest of my family thinks it's funny and does it too, but my friends think it's really weird.

at the movie theater, i get so into movies that i forget i'm with other people, but at home, i always become disinterested halfway through (even if it's one of my favorite movies) and wander away to do something else.

I have a nervous tick where I nod my head sometimes or twitch a little.

Oh and constantly bouncing my leg up and down during a test, you could hear my shoes hitting my backpack and one of my friends just had to tell me to stop. :P

i absolutely love the smell of hand sanitizer. i'm not a clean freak or anything but i love the smell. and certain brands especially...

i can't stand the sound of cardboard rubbing against other cardboard. sometimes it makes me almost throw up.

i like looking at pictures of food. sometimes i like cooking expensive, extravagant, healthy, beautiful homemade meals... just for looking at them. and i am sad to eat them.

Whenever no ones around i sing as loud as i possibly can and if someone hears me i deny it and say that maybe theyre hearing things.

I like having my things in stacks and at 90 degree angles (45 is acceptable too). My roommates like to disorganize my stuff while I'm out. I also adjust people's sweatshirt strings so they're both the same length.

I am a total neat freak, and basically have replaced all of my mother's traditional roles in the home. I clean, vacuum, and do the dishes, and sometimes make dinner.

I am a dude.

my quirks:

1. I like everything organized - it doesn't have to be clean, just in its place, not lying about

2. I hate having extra stuff...there is no need to have an extra blender or wallet or too many socks...if you don't use/wear it, get rid of it!

3. In the middle of something, I'll often pause and walk around a bit to clear my head.

4. I hate using other people's spoons - think about it: People stick the entire spoon into their mouths, so using someone's spoon is like sucking a lollipop they've already sucked. Sure, spoons get washed, but if I sucked my lollipop, rinsed it and gave it to you, would you suck it? I always have a handy plastic spoon in my bag. I don't mind other people's forks though.

I memorize tv jingles. All of them. And then sing them when they play on tv.

i really like the smell of gasoline. a lot. i'm also pretty messy/unorganized and i could probably go like 3 years without cleaning my room and not care at all haha

When I get drunk I take my belt off and wear it around my neck, but not at bars, only at houseparties. I've never figured out why or when it started.

I like everything to be spotless and clutter-free.

I synchronize the light switches to all be down when the lights are off. I don't think twice about walking across the room in the dark to accomplish this.

Whenever I talk on the phone, I hold the phone in my left hand, and I place my right hand under my left arm. I have to make a conscious effort not to do it.

I often get up and walk around the house subconsciously, only to realize it a minute later as I'm filling my glass with water in the kitchen. This happens often when I read.

I speak to my dog only in Spanish. The other people in my family do not like this, as they do not speak Spanish. But my dog listens better in Spanish.

Finally, I obsess about my handwriting, especially for a guy. I use early nineteenth century Copperplate script, and I try to make every letter perfect. It may not be very useful these days, but I make gorgeous to-do lists.
