I cheated what should I do?

I opened up the on-line exam and was reviewing the essay questions while chatting with my neighbor. She was complaining that the professor was not present which he wasn't. She had not opened the exam yet. I pointed out to her a few of the essay questions on my screen and asked her for the answer, and then the prof arrived. She then gave me the answer to one of the exam questions. Right then I believe the guy behind me went to the professor and told him but the prof didn't do anything.

Since the prof didn't do anything at the time is that a good sign?

Do I admit it if confronted? Do I say I was only commenting on the question and not asking for an answer?

Don't tell any flat out lies, in case he did hear. Try to answer honestly in a way that doesn't give away too much--aka, don't lie, but don't blab all and dig yourself in a hole either.

The prof posted my test score with the 2 questions that are at issue marked as zero. Then they were revised by the scorer and I was given the proper credit. If he caught me would he actually give me the test results? I am a wreck over this. I am so afraid I'm going to get kicked out of school. The strange thing is that the prof wasn't even in the room when we had access to the test. So I am not the only one who was "talking" while others had their books open.

Cheating is some serious ****. Either he knows and doesn't give a ****, or he doesn't know and you're fine.

I think if the prof knew you cheated, he would have said something to you on the spot or perhaps asked you to see him after class or in his office. Also, I would think if he knew you would likely get a big fat zero for the entire exam, and not just a zero on the 2 questions you cheated on.
