| Eastcoast guy on West coast?
Im a guy from the northeast. Westport, CT to be exact. Im not very happy with my current location in terms of weather and people, its a very rich town and the people are very uptight and rigid. Im looking for a more laid back "chill" lifestyle where people are very happy and cheerful and are generally very friendly. I smoke alot of pot and drink a little bit so im looking to apply to a school in southern California where the weather is beautiful and the people are known as being very laid back.
I am a B flat average student , who attends staples high school the number one ranked school in terms of academics for the state of conneticut.
What colleges should i apply to if im interested in partying, academics are not very rigorous but the students who attend the school do have some work ethic. I'm looking for a school where the people are friendly and the scenery/weather is nice, and partying is commonplace. Basically im gunning for the w's weed and women. What schools in california match that describtion?

how about the University of Arizona? fits all of your criteria....
I don't know of any school in CA that you can be accepted to with a flat B average that fits your criteria.....maybe someone else does?

Arizona and Arizona State. Also take a look into some of the state schools in the Southeast.

Sorry everyone but Brian is not going to get in to SDSU with a B flat avg...even from out of state. If you live within the San Diego area that may fly but even CA kids who want to go there need upwards of a 3.8 or so to get in...yes, it's that popular.
Brian, look into Occidental or some of the Claremont Colleges. N. Arizona U in Flagstaff might be a good fit and would work with your gpa. You might consider Humboldt state in way northern CA...lots of weed up that way, not that I condone that sort of thing.

LOL you think that he can't get into SDSU but he'd get into the Claremont Colleges? Wow....
Depending on your SAT scores, SDSU could be a very viable option. Though it is popular, a good SAT score could definitely offset your GPA as their average isn't too high (if I recall correctly anyways, I think it's like in the mid-500s). If you're in that range, also consider Occidental and Loyola Marymount.

OP, you should contact the moderators and see if your initial post can be changed to remove your high school name and location.
From the SDSU info for OOS applicants: Quote: |
For fall 2009, the average eligibility index of admitted freshmen who graduate from high school outside SDSU’s local service area who met the selective criteria was 4,228 (1,024 if based on ACT). The average high school grade point average was 3.81. The average SAT Reasoning Test total score was 1,179; the average ACT composite score was 26. The eligibility index for fall 2010 may be higher.
| UCSC might be a very slight possibility, but that's going to run $50k a year. UCSB is out of academic reach for you. Cal State Chico and Humboldt are other possibilities, but these may be an even tougher parental sell than Santa Cruz.

an out of state 3.0 won't get you into any UC... I'd also suggest SDSU , it's exactly what the OPs looking for

If SDSU's average GPA for OOS is 3.8, then the OP's 3.0 GPA rules out SDSU.
