That isn't what people generally mean by approaching a chick, though.

^ Come to think of it, I've never seen some guy go up to a random girl and be like "hey wanna go out?" I have had guys who I barely knew ask me out though - pretty annoying, but maybe that's just me.

"A very good looking guy can just act normal and be good. An ugly guy is usually screwed no matter what he says."

lol, I don't think I've ever found this to be true for me. Really, it depends on the girl though.

It does. I've found that the less good looking chicks "don't care" about looks as much. Although I think that they develop that attitude since the good looking guys don't care about them. But really, I only care about the hot chicks. I guess acting normal won't always suffice, but you don't need the same level of game that an average guy does.

I really wasn't trying to insult you. I have no idea what you actually look like. Those were just my observations about girls in general. There are exceptions.

there are a minority of women that genuinely don't care about looks. I have an attractive female friend who told me that she would happily date a trans gender person, along with a person of the same or opposite sex. Someone's physiology is simply not relevant to her, even when it comes to sexual organs. I have not met any men who feel that way.

Anyhow, one thing that's really important is social proof. Having attractive female friends really helps to signal that you're not a creep.

^ I've noticed that too. There are some guys that are just horrendously ugly and/or fat and I feel so sorry for them because I'm sure they'll never get a girlfriend. And then I find out that they do have one, and I'm just like, whoa, that's nice. Surprising, but nice. I personally won't go for a guy unless he's at least moderately attractive objectively and totally hot in my opinion.

^ You're differentiating between how attractive YOU find him and how attractive "others" or "your friends" find him (this would be your 'objectively' criteria - as if that even exists). The fact that you care about the latter shows that you're insecure about your attractiveness and consider a guy/ boyfriend to be some ornament or fashion accessory that you simply wear around, to prove to others that you can find a man.

Then again, you are a girl who is 19 or 20. This is pretty much the sad norm these days.

^ No, what I was trying to say (albeit somewhat incoherently apparently :P ) was that no guy who is not at least "moderately" attractive objectively is going to seem extremely hot to my taste. Taste only goes so far; if he's just totally ugly, then there's no way that I, through my rosy glasses of affection, could see him as attractive.

And I'm 17 actually, haha.
