Dorm Room Desk Chairs Help Needed

Hi everyone, I had a question about the standard desk chair that comes as part of the furniture for every dorm room. I was wondering how comfortable/uncomfortable they were, how many people bring their own chairs, and how do people bring their own chairs. I have circulation problems so seating is very important for me. Thank you for your help.

If you want your own chair then by all means bring one!

The chairs provided at my school are decent, but not wonderful in any way. It doesn't bother me though because I hate working at desks so I never use the chair unless I have a bunch of people over and we need the seating, and even then, since it's my room, I get to sit on my bed.

Some people brought cushions and used the school chairs; others went and bought really fancy desk chairs.

I have a cheap task chair for myself...it's okay.

The dorm chairs at my school are small, wooden POS.
Bring a chair. Don't bring a behemoth executive chair just because it'll take up too much space.

BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR! I get back pain easily and the chairs the provided for my dorm were horrible on my back. They were bulky wooden chairs/rockers with big arms that limited your ability to move. I bought a simple $20 chair from Target that came in a flat box for easy transport and it was simple to put together, no tools required. It has made a world of difference! My first year I had a small room, and didn't want to keep the bulky standard chair, I just spoke with the Residence Hall Manager and the removed the old one. Having a chair on wheels is extremely nice! And finding one that is not bulky makes the room feel larger and makes it easier to maneuver around. This year my room is bigger and I kept the provided chair in the corner for extra seating.

If you have circulation or back problems you should try a Ergonomic Balance Ball Chair. My chiropractor and mother (a teacher) both use them and say the are incredible. It is basically an exercise ball with a stand that it sits in with wheels and a back rest. They can be expensive, but I really think they are a good investment. For a cheaper alternative, just sitting on an exercise ball for while watching t.v. or reading for an hour really helps to align your spine and is good for you posture. Here is a chair they sell at Target: Gaiam Ergonomic Balance Ball Chair - Black : Target

The chairs at both schools I attended had cheap wooden ones. After you sit there for a few hours, your ass really hurts. No joke. Invest in a nice cushion if you don't want to buy a desk chair.

Thanks for the responses everyone. So it pretty much seems like the regular chairs are pretty uncomfortable and I should invest in either a cushion or an office chair of some sort then.
