TCNJ Accepted/Rejected for Fall 2008

Being that it is April 1 and I still have not received word from TCNJ regarding a decision. I was just wondering are there any other students out there that have applied for Fall 2008 as well. If you have already been accepted/rejected to please list the date you found out and your SAT/GPA stats. I just cannot believe that I am the only one that have not received a decision yet. I don't know if that is good news or bad, but please post stats and decision notification so that I can be prepared. Self Service still states under review. Thanks

ohlollipop, have you decided between rutgers and tcnj? i am in the same situation as you. Big vs Small. pay a few thousand for rutgers vs. ten thousand for tcnj.

I have no idea what to do.

Most of the teachers at my school that graduated from Rutgers loved it there but they also mentioned that the core classes can have at least 200-400 students. And unless you are on the Douglas Campus, it seems like you have to travel all over the Piscataway/New Brunswick area to get to class and therefore I chose TCNJ over Rutgers. Although I must admit, I think going to those HYPE FOOTBALL/BASKETBALL GAMES would have been a blast! But then again I'm a smaller school type of person. I guess it depends on what you are use to and can handle.

poppy89; I can't make up my mind! D: I have no idea where to go. I don't know if I want a big school, or if I want a little school.

Rutgers is huge, therefore tons of opportunities (more class choice, a bigger study abroad program, more majors? I'm not sure though... I'm trying to find out. I'd assume so though!). Also its reputation makes it more well known, though not necessarily better than TCNJ. It's also got downtown New Brunswick for hanging out and is right next to a train station, making it super easy to get to NYC or Philly. Thing is, it's spread out all over the place. And it's huge. I got into the honors program though, and I'd probably live in the Douglass Residential College to feel more of a community, but... I live like, 15 minutes away, so it'd be boring. ): New Brunswick is pretty dangerous too. Last time we drove through we saw like, 5 cop car within the span of 50 minutes. Albeit good that they're keeping up and trying to clean the city up, I don't know how this makes me feel going to and from classes at night. The busses don't have security either, I don't think? Not sure.

Then there's TCNJ. It's a Lib Arts college, not a university. Their classes are more personalized, and the professors know you more. It's cozy, and rated as the 6th happiest student college on Princeton Review? The campus is alledgedly gorgeous, but it depends on the person. I heard there's CONSTANT construction going on, etc etc. Ewing is also very suburby, or so I got the impression. There isn't that downtown area you can hang out. I feel like it's a little isolated. Also, the study abroad program is smaller in TCNJ than in Rutgers, but for obvious reasons.

So yeah. I got scholarships to both schools, but I don't know if I'm in the honors thing in TCNJ yet. I just don't know. :/ I can't make up my mind. I have NO idea what I want. I just like the opportunities RU gives. Gahh. I don't know. I'm spending an overnight in both schools and seeing what happens!

How about you? What are you thinking?

NEXTOPRAH; Ahhh, the huge classes kinda scare me. I know they're divided up, but I dunno. I don't want to get lost and have no friends, I guess. xDD Heh, and the taking busses all over campus... I don't know. I don't know if I'm a smaller or larger school person. I feel so confused. ):

I stayed over night at rutgers and loved it probably because the friend I stayed with had very nice positive people as friends. I know it's already April 30th.. way to wait to make a decision. Anyhow, I love the Rutgers buses, that's because I am a city urban girl. I love how they have a downtown and being close to new york. I really don't mind that it isn't a centralized campus. TCNJ, I am worried that for a city girl personality there aren't enough choices in classes and people. I want DIVERSITY so badly just different perspectives. I want to major in international studies or perhaps nursing. Deciding between the two. Applied to schools of culture and society at TCNJ and arts and sciences at Rutgers.

holding me back from rutgers: biology class 800 students if I go the nursing route. take longer than 4 years to graduate because of placement test.
tcnj: no global perspective, no diversity. Can't find anyone that understands my background. I am chinese by the way
