Honors in college

I am considering going onto a pre-med track in college and I was wondering what are some pros and cons of going into a college honors program

If it's the honors program at a public university, there are typically a lot of benefits - smaller classes, better professors, more attention, better advising, housing with other honors students, first pick of courses, etc.

If it's an honors track at a private college, the benefits will depend entirely on the school. At Rhodes, as far as I can tell, pursuing honors gets you a red tassel at graduation.
