Tasfa

Hi I'm new to this forum. I joined this forum because I wanted to hear some opinions and experiences with TASFA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid). I do not have a SSN right now, because my paperwork is still filing and should be ready by February/March of next year. Obviously I couldn't file a FAFSA (not that my community college required it). I just found out today about TASFA and I know it's really late and I don't know if I will get anything, but I still plan on sending in my application next Monday. My dad collects disability....he's retired. My mom worked overseas for the past five years and made about $75,000-90,000 a year ( I don't know the exact figure). My mom is just lost her job this year (January) and we're living on my dad's income...but that wouldn't show up until our tax return for next year you know? So are my chances really slim? The lateness, the high income will diminish my chances of getting anything? Anyone had any experience or any helpful tips when dealing with TASFA? I only need 2,000 that's all I need from TASFA....thanks

PS I'll be a freshman in college this fall.

You need to ask the financial aid office at your college about this. They will be able to help you find out what you need to know.
