What major should I go into? I was thinking about: Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Biology General, Cell Biology and Anatomy. I know most colleges don't offer anatomy as a major. I am looking into colleges in the Boston area only. Could you describe each major or any experiences you know of about them? Is there a better chance to get into a certain college if choosing a certain major? I'm really stressing over what to major in, and if there are any other majors related to these, please tell.

I do want to go into the medical field and most likely want to go into medical school. Thanks!

There are a lot of colleges in the Boston area. So your first considerations need to be which schools will admit you, which you can afford, and which are a good fit for you. So focus on choosing a school first, then a particular major.

Quit stressing about which of those majors to choose. Any of them can prepare you for medical school. In fact, all of them will require similar core and supporting courses that meet the pre-med requirements.

Your choice of major won't give you a better chance of getting into a certain college.

Do a search on cc for threads related to being pre-med. Lots of good info already there. Bottom line - you can major in anything and be pre-med as long as you complete the pre-reqs. Moreover, none of those majors are going to make any difference to your admissions chances, schools know people change their minds all the time, you don't have to commit until the end of sophomore year, and you can apply as undecided without a problem.

thank you, I think I'm going to major in Biomedical sciences because it has all the courses I most likely need.

Taking the pre-med courses does not require any particular major. About half of pre-meds who get to the stage of applying to medical school major in something other than biological sciences.

But I do enjoy science courses, although I know they will be hard, but still. Pre-med isn't a major (as I've heard) so I think this is the closest to going along that path?
