Music Major who wants to transfer-Help?

Hey,
I'm a percussion performance major going into my sophomore year this fall. I'm considering transfering for my junior year. I think the professors at my school are great, but i dont really like the environment( its suburban/rural and ive lived in a major city all my life), or just the vibe that I get when im at school- I can't really put my finger on what it is, but I just dont feel comfortable there. I didn't do that great academically last year, which doesnt help, but Im going to work on that this year. If anyone knows of any urban colleges/universities with solid percussion/music programs, that would be absolutely great.
Thanks so much

A friend of mine absolutely loved Boston University's School of Music. Certainly urban; right on Comm Ave!

You might look into University of Kentucky and CCM at Univ. of Cincinnati - both have solid percussion programs and your grades might not be as much of an issue as they would be at some other schools.

Hey Snarlatron and SpiritManager thanks so much for the quick replies. I've heard of BU, but not University of Kentucky or CCM. I will definitely look into those.

I recommend posting your question on the Music Major Forum. There are parents of percussionists there who are regular posters and know a lot more than I do. Here are some links to the two programs I mentioned:
Percussion Studies at the University of Kentucky
Woodwinds/Brass/Percussion, University of Cincinnati
