If you're parents don't pay for it DO NOT go. You will never be able to pay off student loans with a clarinet major.

So lissyd73, did you end up applying to JMU? After reading this thread, I am so curious where you ended up!

Haha actually my parents and I finally worked this all out about a week ago. They grudgingly let me apply back in November, and just a few weeks ago I found out that I was accepted. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let me audition (I want to be a music major), so I obviously wasn't accepted to their school of music. But my parents have finally agreed that if JMU is affordable, then I can attend! We're actually going down there in a couple weeks to attend their accepted students day. So if we can afford JMU, my parents said I can go there, and I'll go in undecided and audition in spring for their school of music haha I'm very happy! The only thing is that we probably won't get much aid since we were late filing the FAFSA since they just recently agreed to JMU, so if we can't afford it, they said I could go to a community college and then transfer in 2 years. So either way I can go there eventually!

Good for you! Just an FYI, even though we filed our FAFSA in a timely fashion, we found their financial aid to be lacking compared to other schools.
