schools that offer both ED & EA

back in Feb 2006, i had a thread going on schools that offered both ED and EA, with some counterintuitive acceptance rates. Here's the thread link:
Colleges that offer both ED and EA

Here are 29 schools I found at the time....the acceptance rates may be a bit outdated (2 years old) and some schools may not offer both anymore...Rice I think may be one of these.

COLLEGE / ED / EA / ED-EA
Dickinson 69% 52% 17%
Marlboro 77% 63% 14%
Monmouth U 83% 71% 12%
Duquesne 93% 82% 11%
Wells 100% 92% 8%
Depauw 91% 85% 6%
Roanoke 54% 50% 4%
Bentley 63% 60% 3%
Babson 52% 50% 2%
Rice 30% 28% 2%
Nazareth 85% 84% 1%
Washington Col 79% 79% 0%
Kalamazoo 86% 87% -1%
St Olaf 82% 83% -1%
Lawrence 82% 86% -4%
Ohio Wesleyan 86% 93% -7%
Centenary of La 82% 90% -8%
Lake Forest 67% 79% -12%
Earlham 82% 95% -13%
U of Miami 44% 62% -18%
Wash & Jeff 21% 39% -18%
Siena 59% 77% -18%
Tulane 35% 55% -20%
Wittenberg 69% 92% -23%
Converse NA NA
Wabash 75% NA
Gordon 94% NA
Hampshire 62% NA
Elon 68% NA

At the time I took interest in the schools that accepted more via EA than ED...the "ED-EA" stat was my way to separate those conditions. The thead discussed this topic among others.

I used www.petersons.com as a resource when doing my college research. These pages and articles are helpful: (I applied to the U of M... GO HURRICANES!)

ED I & ED II -- what is the difference?

I see that some schools, like Claremont-McKenna have 2 Early Decision deadlines. What is the difference between the 2? Are the selection criteria any different?

University of Florida no longer offers ED, only regular decision - due 11/1 too.

Papa,
My question was why do they have two deadlines? CMC is one of the few I have seen like that? Any ideas?

can someone please explain the difference between

ED
ED1
ED2
EA

and

Rolling admissions

after I wrote this question, I saw that the Peterson's link above had a definition of ED and Ea. I had a question on EA (below)

priority application
Early Action (EA), which allows you to apply to more than one school early and gives you an early answer about your acceptance. EA applications shouldn’t be used liberally by applying this way to every school on your list. Having the ability to submit multiple EAs doesn’t mean you should feel free to overuse it.

(my emphasis)

WHY? why should nt an applicant feel so free?

Early Decision (ED), which also gives you an early answer, but restricts you to applying ED to only one school and requires that you’ll guarantee up front that you’ll enroll if you’re accepted. If you are, you must withdraw your applications to any other colleges. You’re committed to the school and can’t apply anywhere else, even during the regular admission season.

what am I missing? why would nt one do EA ?

EA apparently gives some pretty good acceptance rates, especailly compared to RD - but w/o the faustian price of ED where you are bound to give up your other choices.
