your app to penn is only considered early decision if you indicate so on your application. just turning it in by the ed deadline does not indicate that you wish to be conisidered for admission early decision. unless you specifically indicate that you want to go ED, your application is simply be considered early if your actual deadline was 1/1. hope this helps!

Don't know if they were added, but Drexel University, University of Alabama and University of TX at Austin have rolling admission.

Great list, but is it really true that Cornell has a 63% ED rate and Johns Hopkins has a 57% ED rate? You might want to recheck a few of those numbers.

I could have missed this, and I apologize if I did, but why do some of the EA schools have n/a for their acceptance rates? Are they just not reported by the school? (villanova is an example of what I was talking about. Thanks!!

Does early application get you an edge to perhaps compensate for a lower gpa ?
like if 2 people had outstanding EC's and SAT's like 2300, would applying early to a school such as Stanford help at all?

I took my SAT January 29, most probably, the results would come out three weeks later, mid-February. Are there still any decent colleges i can apply to for Fall 2009?

I was grateful to find this list and discussion -- very useful to squirrel away as we start looking toward applications later this year. As a newcomer to both the process and the thread, though, I see a number of basic questions were posed over the past year and a half but not answered. I'm going to list some here that I'm hoping an expert can answer:

1. Any chance this list will be updated -- or is there another site (Peterson's, Princeton Review, College Board, etc.) that keeps regular tabs on EA and ED?

2. What exactly is rolling admissions? Does it mean a class is filled out on a first-come, first-served basis (as long as you meet the standard) and your chances are hurt if you wait?

3. Someone expressed puzzlement over a Peterson's comment that said "Having the ability to submit multiple EAs doesn’t mean you should feel free to overuse it." Why not? What's the risk?

4. This from me the rookie: Are EA acceptances open-ended, or do they go away if you don't accept them before regular admissions seasons letters go out?
