In your opinion which is the best CSU?

Personally I really like San Jose State. Has anyone been there, or can anyone tell me anything about how selective this school is?

Thanks

I think San Diego State is the most selective, simply because of the huge number of people that apply (i think it has about the same amount of applicants as UCLA.) It's also my favorite CSU because of the great location and good programs it has in theater, dance, communications, but it's mostly known for its business programs.

the two cal poly schools are the best in the CSU system

oh oops yeah---Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo are probably the most selective/reputable, but I think they're mostly known for their science/math programs. So if that's what your interests are, then those 2 are your best bet.

    1. California Polytechnic - SLO
    2. San Jose State University
    3. CSU-Long Beach (?)

so San Jose state has a good reputation?

It has a good reputation, but I wouldn't say it's better than the reputation of any one of the UCs (with the exception of Riverside, perhaps). If you're looking to go into a CSU with a great reputation, go to CalPolySLO - it's hands down, the best known CSU and the best out of them all.

    What about Sonoma state?

CSUS isn't too well known. While San Diego State may be popular, it isn't the best academically.

CSU-Chico and CSU-Long Beach are the best CSUs after CalPolySLO.

According to US News top public universities (Master's, West region):
    1. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
    3. CSU Chico, CSU Long Beach
    5. Cal Poly Pomona
    6. Sonoma State
    8. Humboldt State
    9. CSU Fullerton
    10. San Jose State
    12. CSU Stanislaus
    14. CSU Fresno
    17. CSU Bakersfield, CSU Sacramento

None of the CSU's have much of a reputation though, except for Cal Poly SLO.

It really depends on what you want to major in........ there isn't really one CSU that necessarily tops them all; for instance, I would go to either SLO or SDSU for business, or SLO, Pomona or SJSU for engineering.

celebrian - you must not be from California. Don't confuse Cal Poly Pomona with Pomona College, which is an elite LAC. When people speak of CalPoly, they usually mean San Luis Obisbo, which has an outstanding rep in engineering.
Cal Poly Pomona doesnt have nearly the reputation of SLO. Neither are similar to Pomona College - apples and oranges.
