I am crowded by over 10-15 universities in a 10 mile radius of my home. If anyone even suggests applying to anyone of those schools I just laugh in their face. The only school I applied to in my state was Penn State, then every other school I applied to, I need an airplane to get there. THANK GOD.

Well...I don't really refuse to go to college in Vermont, I'm applying to UVM but it's tied as my last choice because I've lived 15 minutes away from it my entire life...it's just too close to home for me.

For all of you in CAlifornia or florida or places with nice weather year round, I don't know why you all complain, but I'm getting out of New Jersey as fast as possible. The closest school I considered was PSU which is over 3 hours away from me, then California, Florida and Chicago, I have to get out of here.

I'm from Maryland and can't wait to get out!
I've always believed in going out of state for college, so only one school on my list is in MD - Hood College, my safety.

MD has some awesome schools (JHU, Salisbury, Villa Julie, etc) but it's just not the environment I want to continue to grow in.

My list consists of schools mostly in New York and California, with one in Massachusetts and one in Minnesota. I'm so excited!

I agree. Snow is not as awesome as you think. It's awful to shovel, awful to drive in, and over time just becomes awesome to look at. If you go to a northern university, you'll be excited for about the first 2 days of snow. After that, you'll be wishing you had 60 degree winters again.

my instate options...

university of kentucky [according to my counselor, a top 50 school! I actually have a somewhat tempting scholarship offer...]
university of louisville [according to my counselor, a top 25 school!]
murray state university [THE PUBLIC IVY, as it proclaims... everywhere]
eastern kentucky university
western kentucky university
morehead state university
kentucky state university
centre college [pretty decent, but I would kill myself in RURAL dansville with 1000 people, many from my high school]
transylvania college [also pretty decent, maybe?]

lots of random christian colleges too I think...

I can't believe people from California and Virginia are complaining about where they live. Those states have the best public college systems by far, and also have really nice weather. I hate Massachusetts. Zoomass... Also, the weather and overly liberal population are horrible.

I live in oregon. No real good schools besides reed and a few others, and anyways i want to do engineering. I don't even want to stay on the west coast. I want to goto college in the south or mid west, but there are not a large selection in those areas.

Northwestern, Purdue, Illinois at Churbana, Michigan, Ohio State, Washinton U StL, and Case Western are all schools with great engineering programs in the midwest. In the south you have Duke, Georgia Tech, and Florida, among others(not as familiar with the area). Saying you have limited options in those regions is wrong.

True did not think about all those colleges. I was just comparing to all the ones on the east coast. East coast has a lot of colleges. But you are right, there are a lot in the mid-west and south.
