A List Of Colleges That Are Free To Apply To.

During the past week I've gotten the last minute panic attacks accompanied by the frenetic thoughts of trying to find safety schools to apply to. Unfortunately, I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on applications to colleges I will never likely attend, so I found an alternative. I started searching for colleges through the CollegeBoard MatchMaker and compiled a list of colleges that are completely free to apply to, or wave the fee once an applicant applies online.

I hope this helps some of you like it helped me!

That's a nice list, but I'd recommend against applying to schools just because they're free. This is your future we're talking about. Saving money on applications is a nice sentiment, but in the long run, I think it's worth the $40 or $50 to apply to the schools you love the most.

I completely agree with you. I only applied to one or two colleges from this list after thoroughly researching them and asking myself that if I got rejected from every other college I applied to, would I still attend here? The answer was yes, and I believe everyone should ask themselves this question before randomly applying to 10 schools off of this list. It's provided merely as a convenience for those who don't have the extra $40 or $50 to apply to a school that will ensure them that even if they get rejected from all of there schools they still have somewhere to go.

I would love to apply to all those schools just for the heck of it. My guidance counselor would be like....ugh....no....I'm not sending that many transcripts, recommendations to all those colleges. lol

Silverzc413: Yes, if you apply online. From the Carleton web site:

>>The Carleton application is the Common Application with a Supplement. The application is available online; we will waive the $30 application fee for those applying online.<<

to poster #6,
Yeah Trinity University is ranked as the #1 Masters school in the West. Although Villanova is not ranked here, it is #1 Masters school in the North, just for comparison.

Tulane, American U, Case Western, Baylor, Drexel, Illinois Inst. of Tech are all US News Top Nationals, in no particular order.

There's probably a few I missed.
