starting the college search: college visits

so i went to see my gc today, and when i asked him how to start my college search, he told me to visit some colleges just to get a feel of them and to determine what kind of qualities i like in colleges. makes sense. but the problem is that i forgot which colleges he recommended to me. all i remembered were that he recommended some religious-affiliated, some suburban campuses, some rural, urban, etc. all i remember was that all of them had good science programs. 2 of the colleges i remember him recommending were villanova as a suburban campus and fordham as another campus.

do you think you can give me some colleges to visit so i can find out what kind of things i like? fyi, all of the colleges he recommended to me were either in nj (where i am), eastern penn, or ny, and none of them were really 15,000+ students.

Suny Stony Brook is very good in the sciences. I think that Drexel is good also.

Humboldt State University in Northern California is excellent in the sciences--not to mention having excellent undergrad research facilities.

I have a friend who goes there. She absolutely loves it. The campus is really pretty and there's always a lot going on. Bethlehem is a cute and fairly large town; it's good enough for basic everyday living, and Philly isn't too far away (neither is NYC).
