| I am. My safety, on both an academic and financial level, was the University of Connecticut, and I'm sending in the deposit there either today or tomorrow.
I was accepted to six of nine institutions. I got rejected at my top choice, Columbia, as well as UC Berkeley, and I got waitlisted at BC. I didn't accept the spot. My second-choice school, NYU, was simply not feasible financially- they "gapped" me by roughly $20,000, leaving my family to contribute about three times our EFC. I didn't think that either Marist College (my other safety) or UC San Diego was the right place for me, so that left UMiami, UConn and BU. I visited UMiami and it was a nice school, but I definitely got the "party school" vibe from that place, and overall it didn't seem worth going nearly 1,000 miles away from home for.
In the end, I had to decide between BU and UConn, and I liked the schools equally, but I could save about $4,000 a year by going to UConn- before you factor in scholarships I could get specific to UConn or Connecticut schools. Money's tight for our family right now, so going to my safety was really the responsible choice, and I'm happy with it. Go Huskies! | |

In fact, I only applied to "safety" schools (CSULB, which is a safety for me since they let basically all the kids from my HS in, we're their primary recruiting school, San Fran State and Sonoma State). I got in to all three, and once I visited Sonoma, I fell in love.
Also, it'll be nice to go somewhere with slightly cheaper tuition since my parents are paying for both my sister and me to go to college. | |

| I am! UW-Madison. I don't think it is technically a safety, but according to their website, based on my scores I had a 90% chance of being admitted.
I am going primarily because all my reach/dream schools rejected me.
I am also going because it is a bargain with in-state tuition
It is also a great school that offers everything I need and I know I will be happy there. | |

| I might, due to proximity to home (there have been family problems, and my mom wants me close).
Not completely sure yet.
I got into every school I applied to, so I'd kind of feel bad for settling on a safety, but idk. | |

| Well anyways, I'm going to my safety. At first, I was like, "Oh great..." because I had my heart set out on my top school but now I'm thrilled. It was like, "Oh yeah, now I remember why I applied here!" The only thing that's setting me back is the cost but an admission officer is going to see if he can raise my merit aid so I can afford to go there in the fall. | |

| I am (Pitt)-I basically have a free ride, and I got into the honors program...sounds pretty good to me. (i really don't want to be in $150,000 debt, so i'm not going to the more "prestigious" schools that accepted me). | |

| Most high-level schools aren't that bad, (HYP) if you get into them financially. If you're poor then you should go to HYP instead of Community College because it's cheaper to go to an Ivy than a state school. | |

| My son just eliminated his LAC choices (the only one he reeeeaaallly wanted to attend waitlisted him-probably because he didn't apply EDII like he was asked to...but his dad wanted him to keep his options open...just goes to show you that sometimes too much parent input isn't beneficial!!!-Lesson now learned-1 down, 3 more kids to go) Anyway, the two colleges left were both considered safeties...one with a really nice merit scholarship...the other was supposed to be a border safety/match that ranks six slots higher, with no aid. | |
