| Most people on CC refer to U.S. News's graduate program rankings as the individual major rankings. Unfortunately, this is quite misleading though because employers are looking for different things in people coming out of graduate programs than people coming out of college.
As I mentioned in a similar thread, employers are looking for college graduates who can read, write, and speak well. This is in contrast to employers who are looking for graduate school graduates, where the goal is to find people with a specific set of knowledge.
Going to a college where the classes are small enough that the 3 skills mentioned above can actually be improved upon is far more important than going to a college whose graduate programs are ranked highly. |
