College Grad seeks music composition conservatory

Hi all,
I have (quite) recently decided that I want to apply to music schools for the 2009 fall semester. I have a degree in computer science from ucla- so I don't have much academic experience in music. However, I play the piano, guitar, and I sing, and I have been writing my own songs for about 8 years. I really would like to hone my skills, both compositionally and technically. My two dream jobs would be a producer, or a film scorer. I am already applying to Berklee for a diploma (not the full degree, since I have one already) with a double major in Contemporary Writing and Producing, and Film Scoring. Are there comparable programs in other conservatories? I am looking to move to Chicago, New York, Boston, or possibly San Francisco. I took one class in Musicianship in college, and got an A+. I have a good foundation of theory from my various private lessons, and can score out my own songs already. My writing style is definitely contemporary, and I am interested in learning how to use music technology as well. Could you please point me to some good programs and schools, hopefully some with the deadlines not passed (but don't let that limit you, because I may apply for Spring)?

Thanks!

You will get better answers in the Music Major forum. I think there is a thread similar to this there now--I guess it's not you, since this seems to be your first post.

I agree with Hunt that there is a wealth of indepth knowledge at the music major forum.

A couple of points: as you already have an undergrad degree (if I read correctly), are you looking for a masters or a second BA or BM? Federal aid is not applicable to a second undergrad degree, and most schools will offer limited if any institutional aid for a second bachelors'.

While grad funding in and of itself is tricky and iffy, you would have to be competitive within the audition pool if applicable. I'm assuming your undergrad degree is not in music. Your prior experience, knowledge of theory, and compositions and portfolio may be a plus or minus depending on the program.

Thank you both!
Yes, violadad, my degree is not in music- it's in computer science. I am not necessarily even looking for a degree, which is why I would prefer conservatories so as to eliminate any general education requirements. I don't think I would qualify for any graduate music degrees.

I've posted this in the music major section now- thanks for your help! Here it is:
